Maple Syrup is my favorite sweetener. It is minimally processed and actually does contain some of good stuff. It has a lower glycemic index than cane sugar. It contains polyphenol antioxidants which is great for those with inflammatory diseases. Should you get all of your manganese from it? No, but most of us humans like some sweet treats and we can tailor those treats to be as healthy as possible.
Another cool aspect is that I can harvest it and produce it in my backyard with the only inputs being slabwood from the sawmill and my own sweat equity.
